My 10 inch mbu who religiously eats 3 shrimp per day has all of a sudden stopped eating for no reason. She seems to be sulking more at the bottom of the tank and a bit darker than usual however other than that seems healthy. Tanks parameter are perfect and nothing has changed in the tank

Do they do this every once in a while.

Maybe he's full or tired of eating the same thing every day. Puffers need a varied diet & a day or 2 of fasting in between feedings. My 10" fahaka eats 2x/week. It's still always a good idea to post exact parameters when looking for help. Also, what size tank is he in?

He is in a 300 gallon.
He has always eaten shrimp. And eats a crab claw once a week and has a load of snails on stand by.

Any tank mates bothering him? I still think you might be overfeeding him & also should vary his food more. Try earthworms after a couple of days fasting.

OH...IO
My mbu has done the same in the past. One time he was being harassed by tankmates but other times its hard to tell why. They seem to be very sensitive and perhaps "moody" fish. My remedy is always a larger than normal water change. He should come around. As far as feeding, I feed 1-2 times daily. Shrimp and mussels with the occassional crab leg, earthworm etc.

I am treating him with Pimafix just a precaution. Still not eating anything. I am concerned but not worried yet as again there is nothing visibly wrong.

Could you post parameters anyway?

Huh...I wonder iif this could be the issue. I found a scraper blade (must have broken off) under the sand. Severely rusting and probably polluting the water.
Puffer punk I will post water parameters tommorow but it is on a drip system and highly filtered so I can guarantee the water is 99 percent not the issue.

I'm not really sure what the efffect of a rusting blade would have on your fish but maybe do a WC anyway.

She seems to be back on the mend. 50 percent water change and added Carbon. Not eating yet but the personality is back. Not sure if it is due to treating her with Pimafix, or the rusted blade.
