Have a chance to grab a 4" Mbu and put him in a tank with a 7 inch super red arowanna... I hear Mbu's are community fish but is it trust worthy enough to put in with a $1000 fish?
depends on how willing you are to gamble $1000... since imo, although MBU's are known to be one of the friendlier puffers, they are still puffers at the end of the day and can turn on tankmates without any prior warning...
My Mbu took a bite out of my pleco before. He probably thought it tasted bad because he didn't massacre it like he did with crawfish. I saw him looking at the pleco took a bite out of him and spit it back out. The pleco did survive. But yea, spare the red aro.
I'm afraid to risk it with my aro...Thought about it quite a bit with my Mbu. It depends on the fish. If you have multiple large tanks, I'd try the MBU out with something cheaper first...If at all possible...like a silver aro.
the last mbu I had bit the head off a small pleco we just bought from the lfs, as well as ate the panda cory that arrived the same day. He also ate baby platies. The current ones don't bother their tankmates at all...so I think you're taking a chance, unless you already know this particular mbu's personality...
