I have a 4" common pleco who is the "mean fish of the tank", other fish of the tank include 5" peacock eel and 1" rubber lip pleco, tank size 20 gal. When i feed my peacock eel blood worms he goes crazy and pushes the peacock eel around, sucks on the peacock, and eats a ton of the blood worms. I give him a veggy wafer so he gets his veggies and a balanced diet. He eats a TON! like half a cute of blood worms and half a veggy wafer every night! Is it normal for him to get defensive during feeding? He only picks on the eel when its feeding time over wise he just chills on the bottom waiting for food.

Yes, the pleco considers the eel a threat to his food. Try to find a way to feed them at opposite ends of the tank(which will be hard in a 20gal). I don't know eels, do they eat floating foods? If so try that. Another option might be is to try a weekend tablet. Maybe the the pleco will become engrossed with it and leave other foods alone.

I had a common pleco with the same attitude. He was harassing everyone in the tank during feeding time. As long as there's food he won't stop stirring the substrate and chasing tankmates. I got fed up and traded him.

That pleco is the perfect size to get rid of, people would still take it. I would agree with in2cichlids and look for a smaller species. In my area people are breeding bristlenose like crazy and many are given away as freebies.

Agree agree agree, get rid of him while you can. These guys grow quick and in a 20, your not going to be able to keep him long anyways. I'm a nut for plecos, get another rubber lip, or a long fin calico, I just picked one of these guys up, really neat fish.
