Measuring my Red Bellies?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just a heads up.
Correct measurement of a piranha is from the tip of his tail to the tip of his UPPER jaw.
I never measure them when they're babies myself...
What I do is put them down on a plate and lay a coin next them, snapping a picture. Then they go in the tank where they stay. I only properly measure them if I'm breaking the tank down and moving them....Just too much stress on the fish to do it often.

They grow so fast at that age that it'd be hard to have an exact age because it'll depend on how well they were feed as they grew

Scotch tape a foot or two of a tape measure to the bottom of your tank. Although this is a guess as the thick glass always makes fish look smaller.you look at 6" fish in a tank n look at the same 7" fish in a bucket.I wouldn't get them out just to measure.but if their in a bucket take notice how much room he has. Buckets are 10".

My Lfs has baby rbp that were born right at x-mas time their 1"! I can grow my fry to 1" in 8 weeks. Food plays a huge part in their size!

Yes, food i discussed earlier in another post. I'm feeding Blood Worms and Flakes. They're loving the blood worms and starting to ignore the flakes.

I've read about Black Worms but my LFS doesn't sell these. I've also try small cubes of fish fillet and they swim around it but to shy to actually eat it.
