Hello everyone
I would like to feed my arowana meaty food like shrimps/prawns to start with..should i go for frozen packed prawns/shrimps ( packed for human consumption ) which are ready available in the market or should i go for fresh prawns/shrimps ? the problem is i can easily get fozen packed prawns/shrimps but to get fresh ones is not very convenient for me..would it be risky if i go for packed form because of preservatives etc or can the effect be nullified after washing the prawn/shrip properly with fresh water ? or is it a must that i have to go for fresh prawns/shrimps in order to avoid risk ? Thanks in advance

I cant really speak about frozen prawns/shrimp. If you read the label, do the packages list any preservatives or chemicals?

I have no experience with aros, but I had a friend that fed his nighcrawlers and it loved them and seemed to thrive off of them. He tried beef heart since some people recommended it, but it cloudied his tank really badly.

You can buy them ready for human consumption and eat some your self. Allot of people will tell you buy the ones uncooked. Fish love them. I have feed some pre cooked which was just lightly boiled and didn't really see any difference. Some would say that it's going to lose nutritional value or something I bet. I don't think the first care as long as it's a mix of food not the only food. Mine are purchased frozen nothing just strait shrimp nothing adds. Try the store sea food area.

I feed my Aro fresh shrimp and frozen tilapia. As long as there isn't any sketchy ingredients labeled on the frozen packed foods, you should be fine.

I buy the frozen ones from the grocery store, that are veined and peeled. I just thaw them properly, cut off the tails, and wag them at the top of the water to get the silver's attention and they come running after them.

I also feed them frozen talapia, after it has been thawed of course.

I have tried silver sides, and they get spit back out after about 2 seconds, the Peacock bass wont touch em either, nor will the Lima Shovel Nose...
