Mechanical filter size?

Hi everybody!

I am ready to buy an external filter (Ehaim) to use it as mechanical/chemical filter for a 450lit reef aquarium. How many lit/hour is enough for this?

When I say "mechanical filter" I mean a canister not a skimmer. Of course i will buy a good skimmer as well

Mechanical filters like a canister are not used for SW, as they are considered "nitrate factories". You could use it for chemical filtration though but if you don't have the canister already, don't bother.
