So I recently upgraded my sump to a 75g and now finding myself with a lot of extra room to add media.
Right now I have 2 milk crates full of bio-balls for the water to trickle through after the filter pad.
In the tank submerged is 10L of Seachem Pond Matrix and about 1L of Eheim Ehfisubstrat Pro.
There is a maxi-jet1200 and 4 airstones from my PondMaster AP-40 to circulate the sump.
I am wanting to fill half of the sump with either bio-balls or run rotating media like K1 but can't decide.
What's making this more confusing is the measurement given does not come with picture reference. LoL!
1cu.ft of rotating media (11lbs ship weight) - $50
1000 bio-balls (14lbs ship weight) -$50
If I get the bio-balls I can fill the remaining space better and if wanted, get rid of the loud AP-40.
If I get the rotating media it will provide more surface area and provide a different method of hosting BB.
