I just bought a new fluval FX5 and i'm going to put in on my 120 gallon tank with a few cichlids bout 2-5 inches and i was wondering what kind of media you need for it because it didnt come for it. I bout 3 bio-max boxes with the little white hexagon shaped things in it and 2 charcoals. Will that be enough or wil i need more??

Great choice with the FX5! I have 2 on my 120gal. You might need another bag of the biomax. I use a mix of the eheim media and the fluval biomax. I also use one polishing pad in each filter, they do a good job of keeping the water crystal clear. Just remember to change them every couple weeks our they'll clog and slow your flow rate significantly.

them white hexagon things are proalbly bio bacteria filters. they create good bacteria to get rid of the harmfull ones.

I got one on my 100 Gallon with 3 oscars and i just filled it with bio media and the filters it came with works great

I would just do bio-media, and a mechanical filtration, or some pot scrubbies from your local dollar store.

i put the fluval lab series charcoal(4pkts) and seachem matrix rock (2ltr)

im gettn another as soon as I got the money!

The only thing I had available for my fluval fx5 were the aquaclear biomax. I bought a whole bunch of them and they worked fine for all 3 trays.
