Media in a FX5?

I think they would work, but they're kinda pricey! You should use pot scrubbies. And what the hell is "pre-colonized"?? Pre-colonized with what? Dead bacteria?
 
I ordered some and got them today and dont know if I should return them or not. It comes in a liquid and it says that you should pour this water in also. Dont think that I should pour the water in because the tank is set up and has been for about 2 years with a stingrayand payaras. I am just switching filters, I am going to use the old eheim media that I have already.
 
Interesting, the liquid must be a constant food source for the bacteria, maybe??? Cause if they dont have a food source or are refrigerated, they will die off, just depends how long that stuff has been sitting in a jar.

I mean it can't hurt, but there are cheaper options. Might as well use them since they already came in.
 
im parcial to eheim substrate pro and seachem matrix.... i do keep several bags of bio ring in my sump incase i need to set up other tanks.....
