i tried looking for anoter thread like this but i could not seem to find it so if there is another thread like this sorry i just missed it.

i am running an AC110 and a fluval canister on my 75 gallon tank and i had a few questions about the media i should be using. i have the AC set up how it comes out of the box, a sponge and biomedia and in my canister i have just biomedia in all the baskets. i was wondering if this is the way to go or should i put a small amount of mechanical filter before all the biomedia in my canister to help keep some of the larger stuff out?

also i have both intake tubes very long. my canister tube is set almost on the gravel and my AC has the extension on it i was wondering if these are in the right place?

thanks for the help.

With the AC110, I would leaveit how you have it(which is same as mine) however it would be a good idea to clean the sponge out on a weekly basis to remove and much particle waste as you can before it breaks down into ammonia.

With the canister I would put both sponges and fluval brand prefilter rings before the biomedia, this will keep the biomedia from getting gunked up. Also move the intake to mid water, with the canister being setup for bio, the less amount of particle waste going into the canister the better.
