Wht is a medium to small size nonpoisonous snake i can keep. I want it to be colorful i like the look of vipers but idk if there all poisonous. But is there any colorful cool snakes with good personality to keep. I am open to any options.:)

Im 99% sure all vipers are venomous. Try a pueblan milk snake. Looks like a coral snake but the bands are in a different pattern.

All Viperidae are venomous...

What Is there a max size?

What is the intended food Source?

What kind of cage are you looking at?

Are you wanting a snake to handle or display?

Is this a first time herp?

Is there a dollar amount you are looking to spend or would you perfer to collect a wild specimen?

How comfortable are you with being bitten?

Never been bit before I have been bite by a dog, horse, kick by alot of farm animals like cows(idk how it compares...)

I have nothing for it so far... So i will need to set stuff up like now and get prepared for it.

This one looks cool. mayb a boa of some kind im not too sure

We had a few of these at the pet store i used to work at. Pretty cool looking but mean as hell. And there non venomous. Viper Boa (Candoia aspera aspera)
Good Luck

Garter Snake would be a good first move, Corn would be another, Kings are really easy to keep as well. I would avoid wild caught as they can be a %@^ch to acclimate.

What does your LPS carry? I personally hate tanks as cages;

I use the above for most of my Adult Boa's. I have an ARS rack for everything else.

I would either check your local petstore, or look at www.lllreptile.com, they have good prices decent stock and a wide selection. Many of the employees keep privately as well so they are pretty knowledgeable.

Another source and a wealth of info is www.kingsnake.com...pretty much a forum for every reptile and an amphibian out there.

Good Luck
