Hi People,

I picked up 3 salt and pepper Cory's and 1 yoyo loach (yes I know I need a larger group but that's all the LFS had on hand).

The guys are in a 5g QT tank and would like to treat them for diseases/parasitics etc before adding them to my 20g.

I have the following meds on hand:
  • Paraguard
  • API General Cure
  • flubendazole
  • praziquantel
  • ICH-OUT (Formaldehyde <5%, Methanol <2%, Malachite Green <0.1%)
  • Blue Planet Aquari Cycline (375mg Tetracycline Hydrocloride)
  • Blue Planet Multi Cure 125ml (Malachite Green, Methylene Blue, Acriflavine)
Which of these meds are safe for Cory's and loaches?

Thanks for any help

That's a great stock of meds there. Your ready for the zombie apocalypse.

I have almost the same amount.

Wouldn't recommend any treatment unless the fish are acting funny. Two reasons and just my opinion.

1. Qt for 4 weeks and if acting normal, active and eating well then no need to treat. 4 weeks is a good time and something will rear its ugly head. Save money and meds.

2. Corys and loaches are a bit sensitive, likely, to salt and meds. Some say yes and other say no-as far as sensitivity. Just to avoid stress of adding chemicals to a tank is worth it.

Hope that helps.

I would only personally pretreat for internal parasites but would use one med specifically for that reason. Make sure to dose for scaleless fish. The only reason I'm suggesting this is for the loach .

Lol bring on the zombie apocalypse....hang on I live in Australia and we don't have guns, so on second thought... ;-)

The reason for so many meds is had to order some from the USA because we cannot get a lot in Australia unfortunately.

I have only used Paraguard (1/2 dose). The Ich-out states that it's fine to use with loaches etc but looking at the ingredients I'm not sure

Yeah I agree but not sure what is safe for these guys

Just reread this post and you already used the Paraguard that would be the only med to pretreat with and only once.

I like to worm most new arrivals at least, especially loaches and corydoras. Yoyo's are fairly tough and can handle the metro/prazi combo IMO.

Will try that. Is it best to make medicated food using General Cure?
