I know I posted some pictures of my new flowerhorn seconds after putting him in his new tank, but now that he's adjusted and his colors have come in I'd like to start a thread that I can update as he grows.
I've decided to call him Kobe (as in Kobe Beef) since his pearling reminds me of a Kobe steak. He is a super red dragon with high pearling and large kok. He's currently loving life in a 55G acrylic tank with a seachem tidal 110 stuffed with marine pure media and some chemipure, and a whisper 60 that's set up purely for mechanical filtration (came with the tank so why not).
He's currently around 5.5" and I haven't decided if I will be breeding him or not. I'll probably make that decision once I move him to my 75G. He's unbelievably inquisitive and interactive. I've had/have oscars who I always thought were so interactive but they don't even come close to comparing to this guy. I have had him for a week and he already knows who I am and swims up and greets me when I walk in. If I am with a friend he freaks out, tries to find a place to hide and won't budge until he gets a feel for them. He'll always follow me around the room, and when I throw the ball for my puppy, he follows it around.
Anyway without further ado, meet Kobe
