First post. We have the typical Pacu story -- irresponsible pet store sold the 1" Pacu and a half dozen other fish to us along with the shiny new 40 gal tank. 15 years, 4 tanks, (and a whole lot of experience) later, Aristotle has outlived/outlasted them all, and is a happy 20 Lb / 22" resident of his own 900g tank (I suppose that part's not so typcial).
I guess he qualifies as a monster -- though he has been entirely vegitarian now for over 4 years ... romain, carrots, bananas, grapes, apples, mango, an occasional walnut. Some pond comets cycled his new 900g tank before he got in, but they did not want to stay once they saw him, so they're back outside in the pond with their brethren.
Aristotle's a full fledged member of the family, watches tv with us, comes when called, and carries on quite a conversation.
The bad news is, we may be losing the house in the coming months, and Aristotle (and his tank) cannot come with us ... see the Marketplace for the posting if you're interested in adopting.
