I've been growing out 2 megas at my work. It's been about 18 months since I've had them. I finally moved the slightly bigger 12" guy into the 600.

Nice.I have two nice sized megas myself and its funny but I'm always leery about holding them the way you are in the photos...I get the feeling that their side fins will snap out like a switchblade and slice my hand open.

Thanks koi. ya its kinda scary krich, the side fins clamp in with massive spikes. He hit me with his tail on purpose. Made me bleed a little. I don't like holding catfish especially this species. but I had to get a quick pic.

I know what you mean.Mine are thick like yours too.I feed them sinking pellets along with cut up fish and shrimp.

Yeah, when I catfish I'm always careful about holding bullheads since they can really cut you with their pectorals. When I was giving my striped raph salt baths a while back he jumped out of the container and I picked him up like I would a bullhead... Well let's just say I'll never forget they have spines on their lateral line again :).

Thanks guys. He has already found his new home.

Pretty. The way they hurt me the most is when I place a finger (or fingers) on their body side too close to the pectoral fin. Then they swing their pectoral fin back towards the body and the finger gets jammed between the body and the pectoral spine, both of which have sharp thorns. It's like a toothy snare and it hurts and bleeds every time.
