Mods, please forgive me. I don't know exactly where Carp fall under.

Assuming I had a big enough pond already and the finance to arrange the fish, how do you care for a Mekong Carp? I typed Mekong Carp care and got pretty much nothing on google. I was hoping for some solid details. I saw that fast moving water is required for breeding in the summer on one site but I'm not sure if that's necessary all the time or how feasible. I'd like to know more about the fish if anyone has one or knows about keeping them. I saw they get to be 10 ft in the wild. Not sure I can get that done in a pond but I was sure it wouldn't happen in my 125.

All replies appreciated.

Are you talking about Aaptosyax grypus or Catlocarpio siamensis?

Hi are you referring to catlocarpio siamensis (Giant Barb)?

Are you going to put it outdoor? how big is your pond?( as they grow quite fast) Water temp needed for them is about 26c-28c. Ph is tolerable to 7-8.5..

When purchase make sure buy no less than 6" size. As they're very skittish fish. Preferred food would be sinking pellet. Make sure you have a nice filtration as they excrete quite a poisonous waste. And buy them in school.theres no way it can be bred in a pond as it is a migratory fish.
