Sold to me as MGC, can some gurus help me out to have a positive id? Head shape is a lot bigger than an id shark and the eyes are lower than the mouth. Bought 2, one is around 7” while the one in the pic is 9”

Just from appearance I wouldn’t bet against it being the correct ID.
This is not an iridescent shark catfish aka IDS.
I'd guess indeed the MGC or a hybrid thereof based on the "thumb-like" head / cranial shield profile, as GFK101 puts it, thanks to him.

If you provide more pics, especially dorsal view and mouth shape view, we could be more certain.

Thank you so much Viktor! Turns out the OP from this post and I, have bought from the same seller here in the Philippines. As the seller sent me the same pics as well. I think that he is a seller here on this website and has a supplier on thailand if im not mistaken. He only has 3 pcs that arrived and he told me that 1 was already sold which is one that the OP has now.

Yes, plenty of juvenile MGCs arriving in Asian countries lately. I have no idea whether its a hybrid but the same shipment comes from the main wholesaler, specimen grew up to become MGC, looks like the MGC, grows like a MGC. Bet it was pure strains MGC
