Melafix indicates to do water change after the 7th day of dosage. Do any of you do any water changes in between?

I indicated in another thread that I have some beaten up cichlids and treated with salt while raising temp to 84. I just want to ensure I have good water quality. I feel I should be doing daily water changes and adding new salt each time???

Any recommendations on how to effectively use melafix?

with meds you always should follow the bottle. just read the instructions, nothing more.
yes you will need to replace the salt you took out with the water change on the 7th day.
you cant use melafix or any med and do your own thing regardless of what you think. the meds give the instructions they do for a good reason.

when i wanna heal up a beat cichlid i dose the tank with melafix, salt and high temp...and i change the water often, like every other day. i know melafix says that on the bottle but ive always done that and it works great.
high nitrates will delay healing so clean water is probably one of the most important steps, at least in my book

nitrates dont get that high in 7 days, just make sure you do a large water change before treatment. the companies that make these products test them to make them work at their most effective whilst being safe.
you dont just decide to go against months/years of research and testing because you think you know better. they will have taken nitrates into consideration during their research.
i agree that clean water is essential but so is using meds the correct way because some meds can do a lot of damage when you dont follow the instructions.
a weeks worth of nitrates is nothing compared to screwing up the meds and the disease not getting treated in the smallest possible timeframe.
