HI
On mfk I have read that melafix doesnt even work when you add the chemical in it just kills your fish.
Natural fish medication prevents resistant strains of disease-causing organisms

So i wanted to know is it worth buying this product
i hear mostly people use AQuar salt and water changes Etc

i've never heard of melafix killing fish, i have heard of fish that were already in trouble getting medicated too late and not surviving.

if you can get away with it water changes, salt and warmer temps go a LONG way. but there is definitely a place for pimafix and melafix in a well stocked aquarium supply cabinet.

You can't use melafix for labyrinth fish especially bettas however as the concentration can potentially suffocate them. I personally am not a fan of Melafix. I prefer to use salt as a precaution for injuries to avoid bacteria from latching on the wounds.

never seen it do any good . . . what is worse, I think using it wastes time that could be spent doing something more productive . . .

I've used mela/pima fix combination (I checked to make sure they could be used together) to treat a large white/fuzzy spot on my silver dollar. It worked. Took maybe 4-5 days, and I personally like the smell of tea tree oil.
If only it was usefull for internal parasites.....

Sorry to disagree, Lupy but i have used melafix and pimafix for my GG many times. Piggy got a skin fungus from uneaten fruits/veggies that got stuck under the decore, i didnt notice until it was too late(stuff spread overnight). It took me 2 weeks and 2 bottles of pimafix to cure it.(it did kill my catfish from lack of scales to help protect it) Melafix has done wonders on cuts, missing scales etc.(piggy is a clutz)It may not be ok for bettas but as you know GG's are labrinth fish and i use mela/pima all the time. I love the stuff.. just my .02 :D I did hear of it in another forum about a year ago and tried to contact the company via e-mail with no response.
