Hi I'm treating a bad case of fin rot with my piranhas and I'm wondering if I'm supposed to be giving them a water change every day while their on it?

It seems like the Melafix is giving them some kind of burns of some sort? I wish I could get a pic, but it looks like scales are coming off and they've lost all their color.

What do I do!??!

I think you should stop dosing the melafix for now, keep them in about 82-84 degrees F with a dose of one tablespoon of aquarium salt per 5-10 gallons of water added. Good luck, and do update on how they are doing.

Ok I will try that, thankyou

When I dose with salt, when the next time I should do a water change?

like FRP said, those fish are past the point of "remedies" and need actual meds. I find stuff like melafix only useful for smaller problems

Melifix is good as a "healing helper". It aids in the repair if skin /fin damage & may prevent a secondary infection

I was using melafix, and then all of a sudden the turned white and black...that was my question, how to use melafix, when should i do water changes, how much salt to use.

I think the melafix made them worse cuz now they are looking like death.

Its getting worse because your not using any meds. If the fish is sick, it needs medicine, not water changes, salt or melifix

He needs help.
I wish i could help you my paroon also had finrot and died rather fast and i was sad
go to a trusted LFS and see what type of medicine they carry because you need it quick
