Well it's been smooth sailing, up until today. Did a 5 gal water change on the tank this AM, Both teh eels where hideing peering out at the siphon like they wanted to investigate but it was scary!.. So I didn't bother them. about 1 hour ago I noticed one peeking ut then soon ventureing out 'n about searching for extra worms they had missed from last nights feeding. As he/she is succesful in their search I notice much to my horror a patch of whitening skin on the left side( his/hers) not quite halfway down the body but more fore then aft. and was immediately more then just amused watching him/her. I know eating is a very positive sign and I know for a fact that the patch was not there yesterday at leats not visably so. It's not fuzzy, and there is no sign of a wound. I've ehard this is not an uncommon problem with these fish, but I haven't seen what exactly causes this, and how it's treated.

I've bumped my temp from 76 up to 80 on my heater and had aquarium salt already in the tank 1tsp per 10 gallons. I also treated the tank with Melafix at 1/2 the suggested amount. And run a magnum HOTT full of carbon on the tank, and a penguin 220 as well. The tank is 40 gallons.

other then the patch, he does seem to be haveing labored breathing, the other is breathing fine. no red around the gills, as of yet no rubbing. But he does settle to the side abit, but will get up and lurk around perfectly normal.

There are some feeder guppies in teh tank but i've had tehse for weeks now letting them breed and have seen no signs of bacterial infections from them.

There are some peices of slate rock in there for hideing spots, which I was planning on moveing to my Angel tank. Is it possible he hurt himself on those? I have them angled against the glass like one might for angel's to lay on to make hideing spots. And I hate to take thier hidey spot away as they love it, despite haveing a peice of good sized driftwood to hide under.

My water perameters test perfect w/ PH being a lil' on the high side for these guys at 7.6

Any links I've missed? I browsed the disease forum and didn't see anything much, and same here. If I missed it I'm sorry to bring the topic up again.
