Hey Everyone,

I went and did a little bit of dip netting around the blue springs area and I caught a pretty diverse amount of minnow, mollies, gambusia, and killifish.

I wanted to share a shot of one of the mosquito fish I caught its a melanistic male, and I appropriately name him dalmo.

In the pictures you can also see my other favorites a inland silverside I netted and one of many golden top minnows. The Golden TMs look like mini trout.

Are they rare?

The are commonly caught, but not super commonly caught. I dipped for an hour and probably caught 100's of gambuisa, but only 2 melanistic ones. Also in my area only males are melanistic. They have literately found just one single melanistc female ever.

I also caught a melanistic golden top minnow. Really cool looking, but I gave him to my mate who steered my boat while I netted.

I also cast netted some 6+ pound Tilapa mozambuiqe, and saw a Pacu in the spring run.

Thats one cool looking mosquitofish; 6lb Tilapia....I think I would be having lunch!

We got rid of some invasive species and had a fish fry with 3 fat ones, killing two birds with one stone ;). I forgot my phone when I went or I would be sharing pictures. There's about 1000 Tilpia in the spring, and you have to cast net them.
