I usually end up discarding of this little devils having had them in the past they can be bastards towards other fish but for some reason I like the looks of them so I got another along with my new setup expecting that I may discard it at a later date like in the past , {Can somebody give me a success story keeping one of thees in there tank with other playmates} ? Will it matter if its a female or a male on the aggression ?

I had a breeding trio in a 55 with other mbuna (zebras, electric yellows, fullerboni, peacocks). The male auratus was the boss of the tank but he never killed anyone.

i've had two. no luck, terrible little guys. however i am currently trying a melanochromis chipokae. they're in the same family and suppose to be just as aggressive. so far he's been well behaved.

Strange, but I have an auratus female living happily with a Red Zebra male. No aggression.
