I am pondering purchasing a group of these a keeping as a colony. Probably 20 years ago I kept some with Johanni and Auratus. That was at the time I thought cool to have together but in the end I was left with just the male chipokae.

I currently house a colony of Auratus and they have done great over the years, reproducing and sustaining their population. Side note I did add new blood to the colony and so far doing great.

I am thinking of a base aquarium of 180 gallons, larger than the 100 the Auratus are in. Thinking of their size being larger than the Auratus.

Now the questions are how many would be ideal to start?

What would be best ratio for male and female? I don't have 1 to 3 Auratus as over the years male numbers increased and it actually has kept aggression towards singles down considerably. I know if they start breeding the same might happen with this but based on what info I see the chipokae leans more to meaty diet than the Auratus. Not sure if fry would survive at the same rate

Are there anyone else here that keeps them that can give any other tips? Cheers
