Hello All

Just pick up 4 small melanochromis maingano from my local LFS.

Tank : AR-620 Approx. 24" x 13" x 16" - 20 Gallons - 4 x Melanochromis Maingano

nice fishies, dont see those often around here. interesting tank set up too

nice, what color is the light? It looks green.

Hope that the others are female, but keep an eye on the others to see if an eggspot show up, it if it is a female with an egg spot or males without them. Never sure way to tell, but again as you said we can hope. Great information on the vid about the setup and the fish.

i spoke to soon, i went to a lfs around here and TADA they had them! :D they were a bit pricey though so i couldnt get them :(

are they AKA Blue Johanni?

From what I read on Cichlid-forum Johanni's are different from Maingano, although people (including our LFS) easily confuse them. The maingano ( Melanochromis cyaneorhabdos) females are NOT orange, unlike the Johanni, and from what I saw in some photos, the johani's only have one definite strip, whilst the maingano have two (only my observation)

Nice find apart from that! I bought 2 when I fist started my tank. One's completely losts its colour, whilst the other one's an absolute stunner! I'm guessing that they're both males (which sucks, since I can't find anymore of the same size!), and that the coloured one's the dominant one (keeps chasing the other one around, even though I've got lots of other fish in there now)

Keep us posted on how they settle in
