This is an interesting one for me as I am not to fond of umbee, or at least I wasn't. We have group of cichlid keepers up here in Washington that get together once a month at one of the members houses, this month was Mels' turn to host. As is expected Mel has many large and beautiful aquariums and fish. Although for me, one really grabbed my eye.
You may remember a year or two ago when Mel had some random outbreak of something In his 1000 gallon aquarium, it killed off a lot of very nice and beautiful fish, including a very nice umbee pair. Well as soon as the opportunity presented itself, Mel jumped on some new ones. The first meeting at his house these were small, only 2-3". Now this male is pushing 9" as a rough guesstimate. And the female, although I didn't get any pics of her is also stunning, with lots of bright yellow. Anyway, my photos will not do this fish justice, but it will give a pretty good idea, and Mel asked me to post these as he has had no time lately. I will be linking him to this so he can reply and correct any of the above info that may need It.
