I have to keep spending all of my money on plants for my 90gal. I refuse to go with plastis plants. They either get eaten by my snails (which I removed from the tank and put with my turtles) or the stalks melt. Now why are they melting and how can I prevet it? Except for the bamboo I have no problems with it except that they get dug up but I don't mind that.

BTW I have had this problem since my fish were in the 20gal.

Guys please help me out here

there is no reason they should be melting unless you have them touching your heater or you have them touching your light.
other than that i have no idea why they would be melting.

as mdk said... bamboo is not an aquatic plant.. it will last for a little while but then it will "melt" which basicly means "die"... any other plants you have that are doing this are doing it for the same reason

theres no need to get fancy expencive lights or co2 systems or any of that stuff unless you want to get into some serious aquascaping..

keep you eyes open for hornwart and wisteria (google them)

both are easy to grow and are prettymuch indestructible..

well the water wistera melted, anarchist, and ludwigia melted, the only one that will not melt is the amazon sword. I have adequate lighting.

my wistera melted within a week after i bought it

how long did you leave it in the tank after it melted.. a lot of time when you change tanks (store tank to home tank) plants will go through a melting phase and then come back.. and with wisteria every little piece of plant will turn into a new plant if you let it..

im sure theres a fancy reason as to why this happens.. i dont know it so i just accept it as the norm

it's still in there, just floating in the water
