Mercury termometer, Can it be dangerous?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'd replace it with a thermometer that doesn't use mercury, just to much of a risk IMO

Thermometers haven't used mercury for awhile now. What makes u think it's mercury? If your thermometer has a red indicating liquid, it's dyed alcohol, not mercury.

Don't use mercury thermometers if you can avoid it.

The mercury is toxic to both you and your fish and if it breaks in your tank good luck getting it out of there without tearing down the whole thing.

The OP is in Spain so that might be the reason why he has a mercury thermometer.

I would just get some of them cheap digital thermometers from ebay and call it a day.
