My Mom passed on Dec 6, 2009 after a one year batlle with Lung Cancer at 60 years old.
The doctors gave Mom a drug that started taking her mind away. She forgot how to clean herself, started losing her balance, stop being able to read, forgot who I was one day.

When she forgot who I was(first symptom of medicine) I was trying to get her dressed to see the doctor. She told me, " I wil go to the doctor with you because I am supposed to go to the doctor but my daughter Dawn, will be very mad if she wakes up and I am not here." "She won't know what happened to me, make sure you go back there and wake her up." I said, "Mom, I am Dawn your daughter." She said, "No you are not."

After awhile she said this, "Okay, I am going with you but you have to tell my daughter please." I said, "Mom I am your daughter Dawn." She said, "Okay you are Dawn but I want you to tell the other Dawn because she is my daughter, where I am going because she won't know where I am."

My Mother was an avid reader and very maticulous. She owns over 600 books. She had her books stored in boxes, trunks, etc...She would go through all of her books, dusting, cleaning and making sure her books didn't smell. She would only use bookmarks that weren't very thick because it would cause dents and bends in the pages.

She even had a card catalog that she designed herself, with information about the books and exactly which box or trunk the book is in. She went a step further to create a detailed index of the categories and the books within the category. She even has the date the book came out and the date she got the book.

Mom even had the books within the boxes organized. She taught me to always take off the cover to books because no matter how careful you were when reading a book, the covers would be damaged.

Mom literally has all MINT CONDITION books. From Lord of the Rings, Stephen King, Bibles, Ghost Stories, Classic Novels and too many to name. My brothe r just wants to throw or give all the books away. I said, "NO, Mom fought to hard to keep all these books and keep them in Mint condition." I will give away her ghost stories because I don't care for them.

Wish your Mom was still here too. Nothing like your Greatest person being gone. Always told my Mom she was one of God's Greatest Moms and I would always sing "You are so beautiful" to her throughout the years. I can't sing in key so sometimes she would run away laughing. Kodak moments are what help me through it. ;) :)
