My Xingus gave me an unexpected (and unwanted) present: the largest, which is much larger than the rest, swallowed the smallest one whole yesterday. I found him swimming around the tank with the tip of the little one's tail sticking out of his mouth, evidently uncomfortable, but keeping it down. By the time I got the camera, he was behind some driftwood, so no photos. The big guy is probably ~8" (estimate)...the small one closer to 5", and considerably thinner. I guess he's telling me to get to work on the tank upgrade! :(

damn, that sucks. Its all a gamble with these guys, sometimes they'll let smaller fish in there tank live and sometimes they looks at a small skinny pike as spagetti.....sluuuurp

Damn that is a shame. I guess he was wanting some live food.

It sucks twice as bad (at least) now:

Just because you CAN swallow something whole doesn't mean it's a good idea.

That is a double shame, Sorry Fish Speaker. Talk about biting off more than you can chew. But it isn't as bad as I thought it was.
I thought you were talking about your Xingu Marms.

I know it's blasphemy, but it actually is more painful for me than if it had been a couple of the marms: the Xingu I's are in a tank inside, and they are wide-open and interactive. The marms are out in the garage/fishroom, and are fairly secretive so far...although they do open up some at feeding time, as long as there are no sudden movements. I've just had more bonding time with the Xingus I's

Oh man, im sorry.....that really does suck. Good looking big guy too, about 8.5 or so...color was real nice.....Damn.

Wow that sux!!!!

I've got 3 left, smaller than the big guy, but I need to get them into a larger tank before they get much larger...to try to avoid a repeat performance.
