Hi all,

I went to the LFS today to pick up some food and as usual I ended up coming home with a fish as well. I got a beautiful 6 inch festivum. I have only ever seen the juvies and I did not think much of them. This guy is beautiful and has a lot of color. I am thinking he is a mesonauta festivus. Is this correct? I have him in with my group of guianacara stergiosi and some cardinals. Hope you enjoy the pics I took of him.

I got him from Caye's on Division street in Portland. I normally get my fish from The Wet Spot but every once in a while I go to Caye's and sometimes they have some nice fish that people have brought in for store credit.

Very nice Festivus, I love Mesonauta sp. always reminded me of the missing link between Angel fish and Severum. I'm curently raising a group of 5 m. egregius I got a few months ago. They should be more popular in the hobby but I guess they get overlooked now for flashier species. The Cardinals will unfortunatly become expensive snaks. Anyway very nice looking healthy fish, good luck with it.

You might be right on the M. Insignis but I'm no expert at IDing them either.
