Will i be able to prune my plants in my planted tank with some small metal bonsai pruners safely?

The handles and blades are made of iron or steel and in the little axel(the part that the blades rotate on) appears to have a little bit of copper! The copper is the part i am worried about and wondering about, the pruners wouldnt be in the take for more than a few minutes.

So are these small clippers safe?

I highly doubt that the pivot pin is copper. They would wear out way too fast if it was. It is probably just steel that has some surface rust. I wouldn't use them because if it is rust, that means that they aren't stainless steel. If they aren't stainless, they will rust and ruin the scissors and possibly polute the water. If it really is copper, you don't want them anywhere near your tank.

Most stainless clippers have the word "stainless" stamped into the blade just above the pivot pin.;)

I have old dubbing scissors that are used to dub old english chickens for national poultry shows, and they are made of surgical steel, is this the same as stainless? or is it better, worst?

Is surgical steel same?

Yes, it is the same. If you are unsure, hold a magnet to them. Stainless isn't magnetic.
