I was thinking about getting a metal stand for the 75, the kind with room on the bottom for another tank. I want to put a 48" X 18" X 12" tank on the bottom, just for a grow-out or what ever tank.

My question is are the stands safe? I have a metal stand with a 55 gallon on top and a 33 on the bottom, but I just don't know about the larger 75 gallon and the weight.

Will it hold up? Anyone have one? Should I just build a wooden stand instead (in other words, will a wood double stand be sturdier than a metal)?

Dr.'s F & S sell one for pretty cheap, but I don't want a disaster in the fish room because my stand gives out.

better not to mail order in this case
i have metal stands for 75 i will put grow outs on but they are heavy duty
also my basement has already weathered some disasters

i had one that could do a 90 top 75 bottom that came with my tanks, scared the crap out of me as it was visibly bowing from previous use, so i built my own.

The rought iron metal stands are old school. seems like 20 years ago they were very common. My 150g 8' long tank sits on such a stand with no problems.

Thanks all!

12 Volt Man- Those are exactly the style stands I have in mind.

I'm gonna go for it!
