in search of a light for my 6' tank, i found a used 3x 175w MH. at a good price.

will this be too strong for my aro? will it get sunburn or blinded?
 
Seems like alot of light for a FW setup.
 
Seems overkill to me. Your going to have alot of algae growth as well.
 
yeah, that's too much. unless of course, if you are growing live plants or something then that's good. and you WILL have algae blooms, the nasty kind too.
 
over kill and algae, but i think it would look cool from the ripples, more like the aros outside.
 
Your electric bill is going to go sky high.

A long time ago when I first used 2 for one of my tanks, my electric bill the following month was $120 higher.

These days, there are better options.
 
That does seem a lot of lighting but it also depends how deep your tank is.

Arcadia offer an arowana tanning lamp for red arowana's as it emits uvb. It is also a lower wattage than halide lighting would so saving you money on your electricity bill.
