Im wondering how many of you use any of the black iron aquarium stands? I m trying to keep within my budget and I plan to setup a 55 gallon salt water tank with fish only and some live rock. No corals,just fish. I was thinking of getting on the iron stands they make for the 55 gallon but I have never used one on tanks that size. Anyone else out there have a 55 on a metal stand.

Have used metal stands in all sizes from 10 gallons to 125. They work well and last forever. Some of the older ones were more decorative.
I've seen people put paneling on the sides and face of metal stands and made them look good that way.
When I upgrade to 450 gallons i plan to get one of those metal stands.. I think anything over 300 gallon should be on a metal stand
I have a 55 on a metal stand i havent had any problems with it other than the unsightly ness. You cant hide cables or canister fiters.

+1. I had one that was thrown from a second story porch onto concrete and still hold a tank for years on end.
