I have my 6 foot 150 gallon on a standard 6 feet by 18" metal stand (the ones from the petstore). I noticed one this though. The long supports that hold the tank length wise don't really touch the tank. Is this normal???? Like the corners seem to be holding all the weight. If I push on the long support right in the middle of the tank, I can actually push it back and forth pretty freely. This tank has always been that way and I never thought anything of it. I am just asking to be sure. Is this fine????

Hey man, im not sure about your stand an all but if you are worried about your tank cracking or falling over, i would get a new stand ASAP and save yourself trouble down the road. Ditch the metal stand and get a nice stained wood stand, maybe it could be a nice DIY project... sorry this was a weak post..

This is normal. All my metal stands do this. I was worried initially but after talking to my lfs they assured me this is fine.
Apparantly as long as the 4 corners are in contact, there should be no problem.
They have a 6 foot tank that has been set up for years to demonstrate all the air powered decorations. The metal stand sits up on a wooden platform. This platform collapsed one night and they came in the morning to find the tank tipped over lengthwise, but still not broken.
