Hi keepers, how are you?

How many grams per gallon do you use to make a metronidazole solution to soak the food?

What is your med-feeding schedule?

How much time a metronidazole will keep its effectiveness in this solution?

Did you ever overdose it? Bad effects?

Sorry for my poor english...

You can use up to 250mg
But to soak food with it you only need enough water to dissolve it and cover the food. I usually use a packet of api general cure that has 250mg. With a few tablespoons of water let it sit for 30 minutes thej feed the food.

Hi aquatic. How are you?
Ok. I will try this but, Is there a relation between fish size and medication quantity? Like Xg of fish/ Y mg of metro or is it realy empirical?
I'm trying to find a regime dose in the web...but I realy can't find this Xg/Ymg... :-(
If at least we had a relationship between food g and drug in mg (like X% of the food mass)..could be useful.

Hey aquatic...do you have a answer about seachen general cure and its compounds (that we are discussing in other topic)?

Thank you for your reply, apologies my poor english.

I have no information regarding mg of med per gram of fish. The standard dosage is 250-500 mg per 10 - 20 gallons obviously a large fish can get the higher dosage. Treat every 48 hours (24 hours for severe problems) with a 25% water change before each treatment. As a food soak use above dosage with enough water to disolve med soak 15-30 mins (depending on food to be soaked) meaty food soak 30 mins pellets soak about 15 mins. pour entire contents into tank. Hope this helps.

Thank you Tom...I'm trying 400mg divided in 3 feedings. I'm treating my feeder fishes. I'm doing levamisol in food (150mg/day)...I really don't know how many days i'll keep the feeders in this schedule..probably 5-7 days. Iḿ trying to find pure prazi...but sadly it's hard to find here...there are only two humam medications with pure prazi and it's hard to find it. I'm thinking in something that could handle with other potential parasites...copper + formalin and malachite green combo maybe (for a week?). What do you think?
I know that it maybe sound like a exagerated schedule to feeder fishes...but I don't trust in the hygienic conditions of these feeders!
Congrats for you posts, I'm always reading and learning something that you wrote!

Apologies for my poor english.

IMO the metro and levamisl should clean them out pretty good. Unless you suspect some external issue I wouldn't bother with the other things. Once treated for Internal Parasites just keep them in QT for about 4 weeks with clean water and good food.
