Hey All,

Does anyone have experience using Metronidazole and Praziquantel with a Fire Eel?

I am treating my entire fishroom for parasites, since it keeps popping up despite my best attempts at targeted control. My Fire Eel has no symptoms of parasites, but I've decided to treat all my tanks at once in an attempt to get rid of the larger problem for good.

My last hesitation is that I don't know if these are safe for a Fire Eel. This little guy is my dude, my fishy friend...I don't want to risk hurting him, even if it's to save every other fish I have.

The specific meds would be pure powder Metro from Jehmco, and then maybe liquid PraziPro. I'd treat the Metro for a week, rest for a week, then treat the Prazi.

Any thoughts? While I have your attention...same question but for Datnoids. Not as emotionally attached to them, but still wouldn't want to risk it without some feedback.

Thank you!

Should be safe. Used prazi on my black spotted eel and no issues. It’s over 12inches and eats like a pig. Smaller and newly acquired eels should be dosed slowly till full dose is reached.

Should be fine with datnoids.
