Has anyone used Mexican Beach Peddle in there aquarium? Are they safe to use? I was planning on using about 40lbs on a 60gal.

Thanks!

If you are keeping fish that are sensitive to ph levels, do a test first. Test your tap water for ph. Add some to a container with the pebbles and let them sit for a while (overnight) then re-test. Some rocks have lime and other elements that can influence PH.

you get these in bags at lowes? If so I think I've used them for DIY detail work. If they are the big pebbles, I wouldn't use them as substrate since too much stuff would get stuck down in them.

Yeah I spotted them at Lowes and got curious.. I haven't been able to find a LFS here that carries 20lbs or larger of black river stones.

Wow, great looking tank! Haven't had any issues with the pH levels?

I bought two bags at lowes, they have the same stuff at HD but it is about .20 or .30 more per bag. I'm thinking of just spreading some on the bottom of my 240 so you can see some large rocks onthe bottom, not really to cover the whole tank bottom. I have two seio 1500 pumps on either end and hoping the scattered rocks will allow the pumps to push all the waste to the intakes of the FX5 I have on each end. Tank is currently bare with blk backing and blk bottom and super easy to clean.
