So if I can't do my shrimp farm tank I want to do a cray or crab tank and I like the look of the mexican dwarf oranges the CPO. The tank would be roughly 12-15 gallons since I'm custom making it to fit in a corner if I go the cray route. But my main question is what style of tank decor do you use for crays like the Dwarf oranges? I've seen videos of them In only planted tanks but I won't have the lighting on the tank for plants most likely because of the tanks shape so could I get away with just rockwork? I was going to do a faux rock wall and rockpile that had tunnels and caves goin through it like burrows and dens. If that would be better for a different cray species then let me know. The base of the tank will most likely be a triangle roughly 18x18x26 also would it be better to run a submerged power filter or a sponge filter? Thnx

Just a question , how much are these guys in your area? I only found one store that had these

I'm probably still going to get one but not in a custom pyramid tank anymore, I can get them for around $16-20 a pop and electric blue crays for around the same.

Rachel occasionally has these in for cheaper I believe. Iv always seen these kept in bare stones, mostly with large rocks. Keep it simple and they will do fine. Iirc, these are highly aggressive.

I thought I remember reading somewhere that these crays could be kept with small fish and other shrimp usually without signs of aggresion? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Dwarf crays are awesome! I keep small fish with mine and have never had any issues although I've heard of them catching fish and shredding the fins of male guppies. I also keep cherry shrimp with them and the population is thriving. As far as decorations, I don't think they're picky as long as they have some hiding spots. They cost $10 locally. I've kept them with power and sponge filters both.
