Mexican Hen Lays Inexplicable ‘Seussian’ Green-Shelled Eggs

Yep, there is a breed of chicken from Chile called an Araucanas that lays all different colored eggs. Mainly greens and blues.

Americanas and Aracaunas both lay green or blue eggs. They have a layer of something (?) blue around there eggs (they are safe to eat). If the chicken lays white eggs, the egg will actually be blue and if it lays a brown egg, the egg will be green. Americanas are pretty common.

It's my obsession lol.
 
They're really not uncommon, 2 hens out of my five lay them. Hens that lay green eggs have green legs and ears.
