bass for sure!!!! I mostly fishs ponds near my house and then a lake in WI that have a house on. I use mostly spinners or soft plastics ( senkos, frogs...). I use a casting rod for the bigger baits and spinners and then a spinning rod for my plastics and smaller baits.

Snappers and groupers very strong not alot of finesse needed though. Tips are go deep 150 feet+ large bait is usually better. The structure shape is very important a more cragy bottem usuall has smaller fish while the most subtle structure can contain 50 pound groupers. Also live bait is better than dead for the small ones usualy pick at the deadbaits. Also to make them more enticing clip the tail fin for eratic behavior and for a blood trail. Tackle wise a stout boat rod with minimum 50 pound test. A better rig would be a two speed rod with 80 pound mono filement or 80 pound braided in cases of strong current. THe two speed for the case of a large you can pull back and crank it up. Also always have a lighter rig for surface fish like wahoo ready for you dont know what you will catch out there.

you people need to come to the dark side and try salt ;)

striped bass, and bluefish are great fish to catch. nothing like the feeling of a 30lb+ bass running deep with half your spool, or the crazy head shaking of a gorilla bluefish.

catching either of them is fairly easy. anywhere that has some sort of a structure to it, like a bridge, pier, sandbars off the beach, or jettys have the potential to hold fish. either bait or artificial lures are effective when used right. i prefer clams in the spring, artificials like bucktails and diamond jigs in the summer, and eels and clams in the fall.

personally, i use 50lb power pro with a 3ft fluoro leader when fishing. and if the bluefish are being caught alot, a 12" wire leader is important, since blues have razor sharp teeth that fray and cut line in a heartbeat

personaly i dont like 12" i think its to short had a few to many cut off so i stick with 18" now.
