Natural? That is hard to define for a opportunistic predator. I say, if your snakehead will eat it, then it must "naturally" know how to. I have seen a wolf fish eat a mouse. It seemed to know what it was doing (repositioned the mouse head first like a snake).

Hi.........
Mice are definitly not the right food for a snakehead.....when you feed it too often!

If you feed your fish once a week with a little mouse ,I think that will be okay!

But most of the fish can not split up that food!

That is the problem they have with all mammal meat!

Fish and insect.........that is what they should eat!

Cheers pascal i wasn't thinking of feeding them mice was just curious but thanks for the info you guys are great.

Hi........

If I compare natural feeding behaviour of a native fish here in Germany, called pike (Esox lucius)..........

The pike also eats a duck,or a swimming mouse if it can get it..........
But this will allways be sometimes and not quite often I think..........

Normaly they feed on fish...........

and I think it is the same big snakeheads are doing in nature!

I know someone who is feeding sometimes frozen baby rats,or a frozen mouse to his Channas...........but only once a month at maximum........!
And they are fine!
But do not do this as often!

I do not feed this to my snakeheads...........and they are fine, too!
I even breed them!
Also I do not feed beef heart (is it the word???)
