A good player needs to be more that a silverback that throws a ball. They need to be someone who's charismatic and a role model, and I'm going to sound almost bigoted here to Vick fans, but I won't accept dogfighting "in your culture" any more than I'm going to tolerate a priest being absolved from molesting children because he's a priest. As a dolphins fan, I have no special feelings one way or another about the Eagles, I'm certain they're a fine team, but Vick is a miserable excuse for a person who needs to be put down.

The one thing you're correct about is that you certainly do sound BIGOTED. What makes you think that it's OK to get online and call an African American a silverback? You still think that African American males are apes? I think it might be time to kill this thread. You just crossed the line.

When I say "silverback" I don't mean someone who comes from Africa. I'm of Sicillian origin and get plenty enough of that to avoid trying to say something like that. I mean that he fought dogs, which puts HIM, not his race, at the level of something developed wrong. Were it Brady I'd say the same thing. I didn't know Vick was black, which was why I didn't think anyone would make that kind of comparison. However, I do apologize to anyone who ended up making that kind of connection and with it the judgement of me, if a mod could edit the post so it won't be taken in the wrong way, maybe put the above two posts together, it would be apprecated. Wow dude, you missed the point L021 was trying to make. I read it, and I know who Michael Vick is, and it didn't even cross my mind that he was trying to make a racially insensitive comment. I'm pretty sure he was using the reference to an Ape to mean a stupid individual, kinda like a big oaf, like this dude

I like Vicks positive turn around and enjoy watching him play. I think Brady will easily take the MVP award though . I'm a big Cowboys fan and don't like either Team but would have to say that "I'm rootin for Vick" to win the Superbowl.

There is a city in California called ONTARIO. GOOGLE it. Also, google the word silverback and see which definition comes up. The gorilla definition comes up. I've never heard of the term silverback being used as you're putting it.

Are you even reading L021's posts? You've seriously never heard someone call someone who lacks intelligence an Ape or Gorilla? Dude... I've heard it on Spongebob. Making unbasised acusations is a dangerous thing.

I meant as a gorilla or ape, but NOT IN A RACIST WAY. I also could have called him a bovine, walrus, swine or any other insulting term, I just used Silverback because it was the first word that came to mind and I was ranting. As Bottomfeeder said, I wasn't trying to be racist and you're missing my point, not to mention using a personal attack because you can't refute the point that he fought dogs, is a terrible role model, got away with crime and millions of dollars, and saying "well it's his culture" changes jack about that. If it was in someones culture to fight to the death when there was an issue of law, they'd end up in federal court if they carried it out, and it's no different for Vick. Giving him MVP just piles up on showing our children, and MY generation (I've seen this at school and it breaks my heart) that animals are so much less than humans that they can be tortured without consequence. Not even a death penalty, but letting Vick get away with that goes against everything I believe in.
