10 Gallon tank with a red frogfish (angler) and soon to be blue gorgorian.
Sorry about the "blueness" of the tank. We're using an antic blue only setup as we're not going to be keeping anything photosynthetic in the tank.
The next tank is a 29 gallon nano reef. I just got a new (more powerful) chiller on it, so if anyone remember seeing older pics of this tank don't be surprised if a few species are missing. I had a really bad heatwave at a bad time and it got some of my corals.
All is well now though!
You can also follow the link in my signature to a blog on this tank that spans from adding the sand and liverock to the current stocklist. Dozens of pictures and videos there if you want to see more.
And here's a pic of one of my bumblebee snails that has a green-striped mushroom attached to its shell.
Any comments or suggestions are always welcome. My girl and I have had a great time putting these tanks together and look forward to their future.
The Technical Side of Things:
The 10 gallon has two overflow filters on it, one modded into a refugium and the other running as a large debris filter. The light is one antic blue bulb (also have white). The usual clean up crew is also present, including some decrotive crabs.
The 29 gallon is a little more complex. I am running a biocube with the back (filter) portion gutted and filled with about 7lbs of liverock. I also have a pump outputting clean water (post filter sponge) a chiller and output back into the begging of the mechanical filter cycle, so yes some of the water gets cleaned twice. I also have a small pump (not nano sizes, they run way too small sometimes) for circulation. Other than that I have the usual cleaning crew in addition to a purple reef lobster and coral banded shrimp.
Essentially, both tanks are pretty much self suffifient at keeping the water tank clean. Although, since I'm not running any protein skimmers on these small tanks I have to change the water every 3-4 days. My suggestion would be to get a protein skimmer and good filtration unless you want to change water every couple days like me, my back hurts.
Enjoy and Have Fun!
