I've been keeping shrimp casually for the last few years. Recently, I went off the deep end and started messing with these pure red line (PRL) Japanese bee shrimp. This particular group has EbiTen origins. Anyway, enjoy!
Not quite. Once the new tank is up, THEN I've got off the deep end. My plan is to stock the new 10g with my highest quality offspring and maintain two seperate colonies.
I'm not going to cull anything until the second generation is born in house. I should have two batches of babies born any day now (its been about 30 days since the respective females became berried). I'm light on adult females (not by accident, I bet. These breeders know what they're doing HAHA). I hope I'll have more females once babies start popping up.
As far as price, most PRLs range from $10-15ea USD. I've seen them as high as $50+ for a single shrimp, but that's insane quality. I'm doing this for fun, so making money isn't even on my mind. I'm sure in a few months, all my friends will have my shrimp in their tanks haha.
There are so many wild-looking shrimp out there. One of my friends is very into the high end shrimp thing and he's got some crazy one. Its funny though. Despite all the rare and expensive shrimp in his collection, I still prefer my red and white PRLs
