I haven't posted on here in years. Wow.

I've been keeping up with my tanks though, recently set up this 2.5 gallon micro reef.

Currently it has 2 turbo snails and 4 blue legged hermit crabs. I'm going to stock it with just one thing sometime.

I'm thinking maybe a single cleaner shrimp, perhaps a small goby. I'd be interested to hear suggestions. Obviously most will say don't put anything in this.

I think I can keep an invert or two for a while and eventually upgrade to a 30 gallon.

Anyway, hopefully my sump diagram makes sense. I had trouble finding a way to have the sump sitting level and directly beside the main tank.

Should I add a cleanup crew or some sort of critter into the refugium? I was thinking perhaps a couple of blue legged hermits to keep things spic and span.

This is my first saltwater setup.

I forgot to add that there is also a large carbon filled sponge in the filter as well infront of the outflow hole of the cashew container. Left that out of the diagram.

very nice setup. I know nothing of salt though, so...
if the same rules apply I would think lighting the sump and putting in some macro algae would let you get away with another critter or two.
