At this time of year our city water is VERY cold. Changing water and refilling with the Python causes a lot of microbubbles in the tank. Probably from all the hot water that is mixed with the cold to bring the temp up. This is only temporary of course. I have read some opinions that say they are harmful for the fish. I have never had any deaths attributed to this though.
I find a sponge jammed in the siphon tube reduces them but some are still there.
Anyone have any other ideas on how to eliminate them?

Are you using just cold water. What I wold do is use both hot and cold and try to match the temp in the tank from whats coming out if the faucet just using your finger.

I measure the temp in the tank and adjust the tap to match (within 0.1F :D)....

This only happens in the winter, I believe it is caused by the hot mixing with the cold and kicking the extra dissolved gasses out of the cold water...
