how long for and do they ALWAYS reach a size of 3ft?

from what i can gather most are 1ft to 1.5ft

a propperly kept micropeltis will reach 3 foot and weigh 40 lbs in time

unfortunatly most meet with an ill fate before getting there

unless you already have a much much bigger tank to set up in the near future or plan on having micropeltis massala you really shouldn't bother getting one
there are more suiteble channa available

i recently read a comment about fish keepers and fish havers
i really hope you are a keeper and you consider a different species.

those of you who keep micros and take offence i guess u r havers:D or luv snakehead curry:ROFL:
or u r one of those lucky buggers with a pool for a tank

thanks mate. well whats the most aggressive/best looking snakehead that tops out at about 2ft? coz that would be fine for life in my 150g

150g tanks are only 2 feet wide fully grown micropeltes wouldn't be able to turn around without touching the sides of the tank!!This makes the micropeltes feel very insecure and will stress them. They need 4 ft wide tanks minimum even they arn't big enough.Best to avoid them really. But that rule does apply for all channas.A gentleman i no has 2 micropeltes in a huge indoor pond in his basement. He has it dug into the ground it's 5 feet deep 6ft wide and 12ft long it's huge but for some people maybe not big enough.

yeah im gonna stay away from micropeltes as it would not fit in my tank for life, and for the forseen future i havnt got space for another large tank.
so im gonna look into marulioides instead, otherwise known as emporer snakehead. maxes out at 2ft in the wild, so probly only maximum 22" in a tank
and very nice looking

personal experiance says micro's stunt very easily! and that they real are not that mean anyway.... If you want the meanest sh, thry a Flower Line Maurlia! now thats the devil incarnate!
