I have a large male Micropthalamus that i have all but givien up trying to find a female for. He's currently housed in a 90 gallon tank solo. I want to put him in a larger tank in order to spread out some of my other fish that have gotten too big and need more space. I tried this once before but ended up putting him back in the 90 because i didn't want anything to happen to him. I want to try him with my large male Bocourti in a 125 to see how the chemisty works out. I know some of you have Micropthalamus and was wondering what other cichlids you house them with? Should i just keep him in the 90. I don't even know how aggresive he is but he seems pretty nasty just from watching him go after the catfish and the pleco i have in the 90. he's really fast and i'm betting he could get pretty aggresive if housed with other fish but i'm not sure. I have an adult pair P. Gibbiceps that need to be in a different tank and the 90 would work out well for them.

They are nasty and are best keep with their own kind, I'd suggest contacting Dan Woodland or Mo Devlin and see if they have a extra adult female to spare, Both have breeding groups of adults from our collecting trip several years ago. Your not going to find an adult female anywhere else. Ken

I've tried both Mo and Dan. Mo was going to sell me a female then changed his mind. I've had everything in place to get the female from Mo and now thats a wash. I'll probably just keep him in the 90 alone but I since I can't find a female i was hoping to add him to a larger tank and spread out some of the fish that are in that tank now. I'm betting to say he'd be nasty too Ken.
